Services

Quality Supports

Professionally trained staff utilize an interdisciplinary approach in diagnosis, evaluation and program planning.  Through a circle of support meeting, a person centered individual support plan is developed with goals established in those areas important to each individual utilizing a person centered planning process.  Achievement of independently chosen personal objectives is the ultimate goal that people are supported to obtain. The agency supports full community integration and individual control of their own resources and activities. Ongoing education is conducted to keep individuals informed of their rights & personal choices. Individuals are afforded opportunities for discovery.

Residential Services

We also offer an array of options for residential supports that include:  Beautiful and spacious group homes, Supported Living Homes, Semi-Independent Living Homes, Community Living Supports and Family Model Services. We offer individualized services and supports that enable individuals to acquire, retain, or improve skills necessary to reside in their community. We support independence and full integration in the community, as well as encourage each individual to make independent choices and exercise their rights.

Employment Opportunities

Heartland Services is an Employment First agency. Employment First means that employment in the general workforce should be the first and preferred option for individuals receiving assistance from publicly funded systems. Individuals are given the opportunity to work  in the community and earn a commensurate wage.  If someone is interested in employment, they should indicate this to the staff members supporting them.  Through participation in the program, individuals find they can make choices about the direction of their future.

Heartland Services – Supporting Individual Choices.

About

Heartland Services is a private, non-profit agency designed to provide a wide range of professional training and rehabilitation services to people with disabilities.  Heartland Services, originally known as Douglas Cooperative, was founded by a small group of concerned parents in 1975 and chartered in 1976.  Heartland Services provides supports to individuals in Blount, Cocke, Jefferson and Sevier Counties. Our mission is to provide quality services that promote personal choice, self-respect and dignity.

We support individual choices and provide services to approximately 150 individuals in the four-county area.

Our major funding comes from the State of Tennessee. However, the full extent of our services could not be realized without the vital support of our community, local county governments, business partners, foundations, civic groups, volunteers, family, and friends.

Heartland Services is proud to be a United Way agency.
